God is Gracious

God is Gracious

And so he is born

No not our Savior 

But he that would forewarn

His mother an older cousin 

Of She who is to be 

The Mother of the One

His father now able to speak again

The Angel’s curse removed

Tells all he will be known as John 

Murmurs arise shock and dismay

For that’s not an ancestral name 

But Zechariah exclaims it will be this way

His life so powerful but yet so very short 

He died as Jesus’ first martyr 

For the Lord he surely served and did his part 

‘God is Gracious’ died for Jesus his Lord

Yes he died for Him

The Baptist died for being true to Him known as the Word

Yes Elizabeth’s child was born to save and teach

And so too should we also do

Be Baptized in God’s Holy Spirit and with His Words go out and preach
