Be Fresh Water in Our Dry Days
Today is the feast of the Holy Family and it brings to mind a question every family should consider: What is the fruit of your family?
What good deeds, contributions, and virtues is your family bringing forth for the Church, the community, and the world? Every family has a unique God-given purpose. How does your family contribute to the Body of Christ?
The Holy Family’s fruit was manifested in Christ, but also the holiness and goodness of Mary and Joseph, his parents. Their fruitfulness has expanded widely from their small beginnings in Bethlehem and Nazarath to across the entire world over time in ways we could have never imagined!
How is your’s manifested?
When I look at my own “family” of two, I can see dozens of fruits in the artwork, writings, volunteering, and talents my husband and I give the world each and every day. I know that we each contribute something uniquely beautiful to the universe that in a small way manifests Christ in the world. If we deliver well on our talents, hopefully our fruits will live on well after we pass on, like the Holy Family’s!
And in other ways, my family needs to better manifest Christ. There are certainly areas where Christ doesn’t shine as brightly and where secularism and “the world” has taken reign. Those are the places in need of conversion.
Today, consider the fruit of your family and the ways God wants to shine in and through it!
