The Shepherd

The Shepherd

Look up ahead there is a shepherd 

And He has a flock of sheep that need to be nurtured

They appear to be running amok 

Suddenly they stop by a word that He spoke 

Wait what is that I spy 

Up ahead out of the corner of my eye 

It’s a shaggy beast of sorts

Oh no oh my it’s a horrible wolf

Yet the sheep now appear calm and gathered 

Their Shepherd has said something that mattered 

They follow and move over a knoll on up and out of the way 

The wolf too now appears to have given up and is on to other prey

The wolf he has turned around and is going elsewhere fast

The Shepherd He is the best He knows how to make His fold last 

I spied as He climbed the hill that He was prepared to defend 

For He had a worthy staff long and curled properly on the end

Those sheep are lucky to have Him as their guide

For other than the knoll no place to hide

He moved them quite ably and with care

He seemed to know quickly there was a wolf nearby somewhere out there 

The sheep wild before now tame by His voice did they settle and listen

Why did they heed and relax not hasten

Because this Shepherd is special you see 

For He is the Son of God He is most Holy

The sheep are His people and Him do they heed

For He is Protector of them all He is who they need 

Amen
