Give yourself away, you will get more in return.
We all limit God and what He can do in our lives. Each sin, further separates us from God. And how do we expect God’s blessings in our lives when we separate ourselves from Him? Indeed, we cannot, but we do know that He gave us a way to remove our sin and thus allow ourselves to be reunited fully with God … in Confession.
Confession is disregarded because it is difficult. The Devil will surely tempt you not to go to Confession much in the same way the Devil tempted Adam and Eve. “Did God really say…? Well, God is wrong and does not want what is best for you.” The words of Jesus, the One Who died for you, are true when He told the first priests, “whose sins you forgive are forgiven them.” [John 20:23]
Our sins of commission and omission all limit God in our lives and the lives of others. I have missed many Thursday Rosary reflections and others could not be spiritually edified by them. I have omitted a good and it not only affects me, but others. This rings especially true for parents. Parents that are not connected to God are unable to give their children a connection to God. “You cannot give what you do not have.”
Now, whether your sins are those you have committed or omitted, get to Confession. Yes, you have to figure out when Confession is and how to coordinate when it works for you. Just remember, the one who hates your very existence will tempt you to find ways not to go. Be like Jesus, He was carrying the Cross and was undeterred even when the weight caused Him to fall. He found the strength to get back up because of His love. Will you get back up from your sin in Confession … for love?
Jesus, You want to give us the life to the full, help us to stop limiting You in our lives in order that we might experience God’s blessings. Amen.
