How many crosses can you carry?
My family is Catholic. We were raised with the true dedication and devotion of the Holy Mass, the Sacraments and praying the Rosary. I will never forget when I was about 10 years old, and a snotty young teemager got mad at us and spewed the words, " well, you just keep rubbing those beads". I knew she was mocking the Most Holy Rosary. It made me angry, and to this very day, even many years later, I can still visualize her ugly demeaner and look on her brace filled face as she said it. It hurt more than angered me.
If only she would have known what she was saying, she never would have said it. For the Most Holy Rosary is the replication and meditation of our Sweet Mother Mary and the lives of Her and Her Son Jesus. Every time we hold a bead in our fingers it represents something Sacred and Holy. A Sacramental weapon given to us by our Beloved Mother of God Herself.
The Rosary "has" become my weapon. My weapon of comfort, peace and contemplation. I love saying it and going slowly. Saying it slowly, you can capture the moment of the Visitation when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and asked Her to become the Mother of God. The Birth of Jesus and the coldness of the night. The Sorrow of our Lord in His cruel agony and the pains felt both by Him and His Mother Mary at His crucifixion. You can feel the waters of His Baptism and the Holy Spirit descending in that little room on the Apostles and Mary and understand what a great gift they had just been given. You can feel the rocks and hills Mary road just after finding out that She was to be the Mother of God and marvel at Her strength and surrender to God. So much to be taken from meditating and praying the Most Holy Rosary. I am Thankful for many, many blessings our Lord has showered upon me and my life, but 1 of the most sincerest Thank you's goes to Him for giving mankind His sweet and powerful Mother Mary, and then in turn, for giving us the "Most Holy Rosary"......
