"Come Follow Me" How To Manual
There is a scripture, from 1 Thessionians 5, v 16 to "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing, in all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus."
Hmm, to pray without ceasing. Lord help me or rather us to know how to do just that. To pray without ceasing. 1st, we all know the Morning Offering Prayer, I hope. We also have some even shorter prayers that can come out of our mouth ---without ceasing.
I was taught the importance of praying short prayers called "ejaculations." These are also known as an aspirations. These are short prayers meant to be memorized and repeated throughout the day. These prayers are meant to help us continually turn our thoughts toward God.
Examples: "Lord have mercy. Thank you God. Open my eyes God--*(to find lost items.) Come Holy Spirit. Jesus help me, or help Jesus help! Forgive me Lord, to name a few.
One of my favorites when outside, driving, or anywhere, is to say: "Wow, God, Wow! or Praise the Lord!"
You can say, "Raise a Hallelujah" *when frustrated or angry, or "Glory to God!!" Now, remember to say these with love in your heart and not in vain or taking God's name fliptingly.
We must redirect our thoughts up, to rise up out of whatever pit or crippled state we are in. Which brings to light the fact that we are told there’s power in the Word of God, for it is a sword in our hand that does battle against the enemy! To speak the Word, no matter how short the quote--will send darkness, bad attitudes, and temptations away that the devil uses to cause us grief in life.
So to speak very short prayers that are simply very short quotes from scriptures is very important. For example, "I shall not fear. I trust in the lord. Lean not up on your own understanding. Believe!! Believe nothing is impossible with God. This 'battle belongs to the Lord!! Thy Will be done! This is the Day that the Lord has made I will rejoice in it and be glad."
More examples could be listed, but now is the time for you to write down your favorite quotes and begin to make them a part of your praying without ceasing, rejoicing always and in all things GIVE THANKS to God for God knows what He is doing in your life for your salvation!!
