Overwhelmed by Discernment? Let This Bible Passage Give You Peace
Social media is covered with influencers who have an impact on the culture, particularly its young women. But not all of them provide practical, encouraging advice for how we can live an authentic Catholic life in the increasingly secular society of the modern world. If you're feeling without virtuous and impactful social media influencers going into 2024, here are the top four Catholic women and their platforms that every young Catholic woman should follow.
Crystalina Evert/Women Made New
If you’re dealing with deep wounds and longing for true healing, Crystalina Evert is the perfect cheerleader. Her Women Made New ministry is largely fueled by her difficult childhood and deep struggles with sin and trauma. Crystalina has written a book by the same title and provides numerous resources in a comprehensive ministry that “encourages and supports women in need of personal healing, empowering them to become the women God created them to be.”
Today, she’s a beautiful and devout Catholic wife and mother who has discovered God’s love and plan for her. Follow Crystalina on Instagram and find out more about Women Made New on her website.
Cameron Fradd/Among the Lilies
I was introduced to Cameron Fradd’s platform shortly after being diagnosed with a chronic illness. She, too, has suffered physical health issues, and her insight into suffering and sacrifice has helped me tremendously in my own journey. Her platform, Among the Lilies, is a space for Catholic women “who are tired of pretending and ready to be real.”
She talks about embracing the chaos of everyday life and learning to offer everything to God, inspired by St. Joan of Arc’s words: “It was for this that I was born.” Her content (found here and here) is inspired by her health problems and her daily vocation as a wife and mother.
Carolyn Ferguson/The Young Catholic Woman
My single favorite blog is one started by Carolyn Ferguson, a down to earth graduate of a small Catholic university in Maryland, called the Young Catholic Woman. Not only does the blog provide beautiful stories and insights from young ladies striving for holiness, but the platform also sells beautiful Catholic products, from books and journals to jewelry and home goods.
Carolyn also posts on Instagram personal anecdotes as positive as home projects and as vulnerable as miscarriages—all with a clear theme of surrender and accepting the joys and sorrows of this life as gifts from God. The Young Catholic Woman blog and shop can be found here and followed via social media here.
Amber Rose/The Religious Hippie
Another influencer I recently discovered is a young woman named Amber Rose, whose social media ministry—The Religious Hippie—shares entertaining and inspiring content for Catholics just trying to live their faith. Her ministry came after she experienced a deep reconversion to Catholicism, sparking her to share the beauty of that faith with others.
Amber Rose comments on relatable Catholic culture, from her cute Mass outfits to more serious discussions about abortion and how social media can negatively impact true communion and unity among Catholics. The Religious Hippie is active on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
