Why do I do something new instead of giving something up for lent

The season of Lent is upon us once again. This means we reflect on The Passion of Christ and give something up for the season.

For myself, however, other than giving up meat on Fridays, I do not give anything additional up. Instead, I actively do something.

For one year, I read the book of Psalms and wrote small reflections on each. Another year, I tried to spend time with people in person to get to know them better.

These are just a few options that you could do during your Lenten journey. Find things that will help you reflect on Christ's sacrifice for us and make you grow as a person.
