When Our Time Comes To say Goodbye
Fear
Eileen Renders February 2024
To begin with, fear is the opposite of trust. What creates fear in us? Several things can create fear in us, a couple of examples might be fear of the unknown, evil spirits, the dark, being alone, a lack of confidence, and including many other such examples.
Why do some express unrealistic fears, while others are confident and trusting? Trust is abundant when we trust in ourselves, and accept that which we have no control over. Thus, the saying; “God grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” In fact, that saying is the Creed for those seeking help in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Yes, they gradually realize that we live one day at a time, and most importantly, we cannot change the world. We can only change ourselves, and then only through the help of God. When we trust in God, talk to Him, and pray to Him on a regular basis, He will bless us with the trust in Him to recognize that he is leading us. Knowing how He loves us and wants us to come to Him, our fears gradually disappear.
The world today can be scary without God in our hearts and lives. This may be why many of us are seeing more young terrorists who are just teenagers killing and attacking neighbors and church members. Without a real motive, many believe that their fears, depression, and feelings of isolation are due to world conditions, and the lack of God in their lives.
When we kneel to pray this Lenten Season, may we all remember these young people with mental and emotional conditions and pray for them that they find their way to their Father, God in Heaven.
