Jesus and Isaac
 
Isaac’s father Abraham called God his holy shield

His faith was one day tested, on a mountain, in a field.

Jesus’ mother Mary found favor with the Lord.

But Simeon had to tell her, she’d be pierced with a sword.

Abraham took Isaac up the mountain as he was told.

He gave his son a heavy pack, a bundle of wood to hold.

Mary met her son and prayed, as he was on his way.

Carrying a heavy wooden cross, for our sins he had to pay.

Isaac looked at his father, with fear he asked him twice,

Here’s the fire and the wood, but where's the sacrifice?

Mary looked upon her only son, while on the cross he hung.

With love in his heart he cried, “Woman, behold your son”. 

‘Son, the lamb for offering, the Lord will provide’.

As Abraham drew his knife, the angel pulled him aside.

He pointed to a ram with a thistle bush around its horns. 

For Isaac, a perfect Substitute, on his head a crown of thorns.
