Powerful Prayers to the Three Archangels

God shows his loving care for us in many different ways. One of them is that He has surrounded us with powerful, angelic beings that serve, guide and protect us.

When God created angels, He gave them different roles in His creation. He appointed many of them to serve humanity in different ways. In addition to giving each person a guardian angel to protect them throughout the course of their entire life, from birth until death, God has also appointed three archangels to help us in specific ways on our pilgrimage to heaven and we are encouraged to invoke their help when we are in need.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 328, teaches that,”The existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture calls “angels” is a truth of faith. The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition.”

The Church teaches us that angels are pure, created spirits without a body and that they do not depend on matter for their existence or activity. The name angel means servant or messenger of God. Angels are celestial or heavenly beings, distinct from human beings. Angels have intellect and will, and are immortal.

Archangels are one of the nine choirs of angels listed in the Bible. They are in the second lowest "rank." 

The lowest ranks of angels are those who communicate or interact with us. 

In ascending order, the choirs or classes are 1) Angels, 2) Archangels, 3) Principalities, 4) Powers, 5) Virtues, 6) Dominations, 7) Thrones, 8) Cherubim, and 9) Seraphim.

The following are some beautiful and powerful prayers to the Archangels that describe the specific role that each Archangel has been given by God and how that role can help us when we need them the most.

PRAYER TO THE THREE ARCHANGELS

Heavenly King, You have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth.

Saint Michael is our protector; I ask him to come to my aid, fight for all my loved ones, and protect us from danger.

Saint Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News; I ask him to help me clearly hear Your voice and to teach me the truth.

Saint Raphael is the healing angel; I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know, lift it up to Your throne of grace and deliver back to us the gift of recovery.

Help us, O Lord, to realize more fully the reality of the archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy angels, pray for us. Amen.

PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL

Saint Michael, glorious prince of heaven, protector of souls, I call on you to free me from all adversity and all sin and to make me useful in God's service, obtaining from Him the grace of final perservance. Amen.

PRAYER TO SAINT GABRIEL

Saint Gabriel, glorious archangel, God's stronghold. I call on you to obtain for me the grace of being preserved from evil, victory over the devil and domination over my bad inclinations until the end of my life. Amen.

PRAYER TO SAINT RAPHAEL

Saint Raphael, God's remedy, I call on you to heal all mysoul's infirmities and help me to flee from the sins that do such harm, that I may love and serve God faithfully in this life and in eternity. Amen. 

ACT OF CONSECRATION TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

Oh most Noble Prince of the Angelic Hierarchies, valorous warrior of Almighty God,
and zealous lover of His glory, terror of the rebellious angels, and love and delight of all the just ones, my beloved Archangel Saint Michael, desiring to be numbered among thy devoted servants, I, today offer and consecrate myself to thee, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under thy most powerful protection.

I entreat thee not to look at how little, I, as thy servant have to offer, being only a wretched sinner, but to gaze, rather, with favorable eye at the heartfelt affection
with which this offering is made, and remember that if from this day onward
I am under thy patronage, thou must during all my life assist me,
and procure for me the pardon of my many grievous offenses, and sins, the grace to love with all my heart my God,
my dear Savior Jesus and my Sweet Mother Mary, and obtain for me all the help necessary to arrive to my crown of glory.

Defend me always from my spiritual enemies, particularly in the last moments of my life.

Come then oh Glorious Prince and succor me in my last struggle, and with thy powerful weapon cast far from me
into the infernal abysses that prevaricator and proud angel that one day thou prostrated in the celestial battle.

Saint Michael, defend us in our daily battle so that we may not perish in the last Judgment. Amen

Prayer one Our Father, one Hail Mary, one Glory Be

Bless the Lord, all ye Angels: Ye who are mighty in strength, who fulfill His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His words.

He hath given His Angels charge concerning thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.

Let us pray:
O God, Who dost arrange the services of Angels and men in a wonderful order, mercifully grant that our life may be protected on earth by those who always do Thee service in Heaven, through Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who with Thee and the Holy Ghost are one God now and forever. Amen.

O God, Who in Thine unspeakable Providence dost send Thine Angels to keep guard over us, grant unto Thy suppliants that we may be continually defended by their protection and may rejoice eternally in their society, through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, forever and ever. Amen.
