From His Passion to Resurrection to Mystagogy
Into the end of times where no one can say “I am free of sin”
It isn’t a proclamation that even though all have fallen short of God’s Glory that sin is expounded automatically. Rather, it is a shout of joy that exclaimed that our Christ who came to save our souls has risen from the dead and freed all of us from an eternity away from God.
Of course It is too easy to just go along like a swan on a lake enjoying the mild breezes with not a care in the world. Unfortunately, there are many who are living their lives as if there is nothing we can do to change the direction our ease of pleasures has handed us. Ask anyone who has turned away from salvation as a chapter in a book titled “live as you will without religious rules.” Their answer will be an empty stare as if to say; “What are you talking about?”
No one needs to bear down on what the Church has demanded without finding God in the midst of overcoming evil attractions. We should never let up when lifestyles that offer so much pleasure that we can never see beyond the tragedies they offer. But that is exactly what we are watching in today’s new-age philosophies of “ live and let go“ of the truth that Christ brought to the world. An antidote to what Pilate remarked to Jesus; “what is truth?” (Jn 18: 38). Jesus Christ is the Truth of God and the very reason for his Incarnation.
For those who might claim to be free of sin need one very important truth;”We are saved from eternal death through the blood of Jesus being shed for the forgiveness of sins.” We cannot earn that truth, but we must accept with thanks to God for this eternal gift. Without that effort to be thankful the sins may very well still linger within our soul. How easy that removal of sin in our lives becomes when the first glimpse of heaven opens to any one who acknowledges what the Cross on Calvary really has done for us. However, how many refuse to believe that this sacrifice of the Lamb of God was for them, alone.
That one event was the culmination of the Easter Triduum and where each one should have been nailed to the cross was released from an execution that only God chose out of love. The one remarkable outcome will be our opportunity to thank God as we surround the Throne of the Almighty. “I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.” (Rv 21: 3 - 4).
Christ’s Resurrection goes so much further than just a Sunday morning and many appearances to believers. It is the very acknowledgement of what God created for us and was only possible when He died for us to complete the reality of one angel’s attempt to destroy you and me. “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say; “Now have salvation and power come, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed. For the accuser of our brothers is cast out, who accuses them before our God day and night. They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; love for life did not deter them from death. Therefore, rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them. But woe to you, earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you in great fury, for he knows he has but a short time.” (Rv 12: 10 - 12).
