USCCB opposes so-called Access to Family Building Act (S. 3612).

The 2/28/24 letter to the U.S. Senate, opposing S3612 from Archbishop Borys Gudziak, Bishop Robert Barron, Bishop Michael Burbridge, and Bishop Kevin Rhoades bemoans the pain of infertility, while adamantly opposing immoral means of dealing with it

The solution...can never be a medical process that involves the creation of countless preborn children and results in most of them being frozen or discarded and destroyed. For this and other deeply troubling problems with the bill, we strongly oppose the Access to Family Building Act (S. 3612)....

Contrary to what some have claimed, a position that supports legal enshrinement of IVF, however well-intended, is neither pro-life nor pro-child. Approaches such as investing in life-affirming research on infertility, or strengthening support for couples who desire to adopt, would be better to explore....

we implore you in the strongest possible terms to oppose S. 3612 and any similar legislation that comes before you.

Ignorance by innumerable Catholics, other Christians, and others of goodwill on the particulars of IVF and its immorality of IVF is shameful. For wives and husbands, IVF separates the unitive and procreative aspects of marital acts. In addition, countless embryos are destroyed/dicarded in "Frankensteinish" processes.

Let us pray that our leaders will remember that they will one day have to stand before God, to explain any failures to boldly proclaim the truth about IVF.
