Do not leave Jesus’ Bride, the Church.

Many leave the Church because of other people. It could be a priest that said or did something wrong or what we perceive as wrong. Or it could be a fellow layperson in the pews that said or did something wrong. Jesus does not become a bad God because His people do bad things. And His Church most assuredly does not divorce Herself from Christ.

Jesus gave the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven to Peter and yet Peter still denied Jesus … THREE TIMES! The Apostles did not abandon Peter. No, Peter still was the first Vicar of Christ until he was martyred for Jesus. If Peter’s denial meant abandoning him who was Christ’s first Vicar, the Church and faith in Jesus would be nonexistent. We do not put our faith in men, even the Vicar of Christ. We put our faith in Jesus.

Jesus guaranteed us that “I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” [Matthew 16:18] It is not the priests’ nor the bishops’ and not even the pope’s Church. It is Jesus’ Church. If you leave the Church, you leave Jesus. DO NOT leave Jesus!

Jesus, we have faith in You as have given us so much assurance, especially in Your willingness to become one of us and to die a torturous death for us. Help us never to leave Your Bride and to defend Her as we defend You. Amen.

I am an adopted son of God through baptism, though still a great sinner. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife and 11 lovely children, 3 of which have gone to Heaven before their birth.
