Should I pray for this man? A reflection on praying
The entire season of Lent, we suffer. We give something up. We fast. We don’t eat meat on Friday. All the while, we bear witness to the passion of Christ and take ownership of the idea that he died for us.
Lent is a season of pain and sacrifice. Yet, it ends with the coming of Easter when Christ is risen again. We rejoice and celebrate that he has transcended his human form and returned to us his proper form as our Messiah. This, too, can be applied to everyday life. We might be suffering at the moment.
All hope could seem lost. Yet, once we get through this time of sadness, then we will celebrate and rejoice. Our suffering has ended. Jesus brings about healing.
He is the light in our lives and will always guard us through the hard times. Lent is a hard time, but it is expected and planned each year. In life, sometimes, the hard times come up unexpectedly. Still, the result is the same. Christ will guide us into the light.
