The Longest Hour
Guilty for charges that are insane
Healing those some who even walk with a cane
Dragged before leaders both Roman and Jew
Determined are they to get this trial through
The goal to save their precious positions
He is in their way so time for big changes
Pilate decides that He must die
Jesus they decided they would crucify
So that fateful day scourged was He
Crowned with thorns and beat without mercy
They made Him drag His own tree
That they would nail Him to so purposefully
Finally the Friday afternoon of dread is nigh
He is hung between two criminals up high
It now the third hour the sky has become black
But for the Lord there was no turning back
This was the moment the time indeed
For the entire human race it was what we need
The end of death by His death
And then did our Lord finally take His last breath.
