In the time of evil our Christ comes with new life through his Blood
Whatever we find on the cross of glory it is the blood of our Savior that remains intact. There is something about a cleansing adhesive that will wash away any stain in impropriety to the human soul, and the Blood of Christ from the lashes, the crown, the nails and the sword of the soldier releasing blood and water from the heart of Jesus that accomplished that. (Jn 19: 31 - 36).
Often we will hear the words of one who speaks with authority in need of healing from emotional and stressful maladies that only the Holy Spirit can open the door of mental duress. That authority is God himself to whom we will call down the Blood of Christ from the cross that washes away the evil that confounds us.
Using words or actions that may be familiar to us, and ending up in frustration when they fail, we realize there must be a perfect solution that is beyond ourselves and look to the Place of the Skull, Golgotha. There they crucified our Lord and the saving texture from God became the precious blood from an innocent man, Jesus Christ; our Lord and God. (Jn 19: 17 - 18).
Any time we receive an injury that opens the tissue of our body and blood starts to come forth, the first thing we find, after the pain passes, is that the chance of immediate infection is erased as the blood carries away any impurities around the wound. When we call down the blood of Christ on a wound that is deep within our soul, it is pouring into and not out of the wounds of evil we stumbled upon. His Sacred Blood has become the healing Balm of Gilead.
“As Joseph’s brothers contemplated how to kill him, a caravan of Ishmaeites passed by on their way to Egypt from Gilead. In their cargo were spices, balm, and myrrh.” (Gn 37:25).
A warning to Judah of what Babylon would do to them. Upon hearing the news, Jeremiah laments, “Is there no balm in Gilead?” His question is a poetic search for hope-a plea for healing.” (Jer 8: 22).
As God describes an impending judgment on Egypt, he taunts them; “Go up to Gilead and obtain balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain have you multiplied remedies; there is no healing for you.” (Jer 46: 11).
From the Blood of Jesus, we will find our own Balm; a healing that represents the myrrh used to anoint the body of Jesus. Blood that heals our souls as balm and wipes away eternal sin.
