Advent 2024 Preview
The much-anticipated sequel to Captain America was released in April 2014. The movie was packed with many twists and turns. Even the main character himself has taught us lessons on faith.
The movie follows Captain America teaming up with Black Widow and Falcon to stop a killer assassin known as the Winter Soldier. He is later revealed as Bucky Barnes and an overreaching government who has an intent to kill millions of innocent people. Even the main character is put to the test as he figures out who is on his side and not.
Run A Race with Someone
In the opening of the movie, Steve Rogers out paces Sam Wilson, a veteran pararescue airman. It would become the subject of a meme used when Peter and John run to the cave on the first day of the week.
Never underestimate running a race with someone who want to cross the finish line in heaven. Be sure tell that person who you are.
Wilson, who becomes Falcon, would take part in the mission to take down the shadow agents of Hydra who infiltrated SHIELD in their attempt of world domination.
Build Trust by Giving It to Friends
The movie showed quite a bit of partnership between Captain America and Black Widow. They go on missions together for SHIELD. Yet, when the mysterious killer surfaces and SHIELD is setting the two of them up, the Cap is skeptical. Over time, they learn to trust one another even if it meant saving someone.
Don’t Trust Someone Easily
Captain America is known as a Sentinel of Liberty. The world that surrounds him is surrendering liberty little by little. It all points to SHIELD and its enemies from within. The people whom he works with couldn’t be trusted.
Suffer for Righteousness Sake
Captain America had a mission. It was more than just to run and hide from SHIELD. Instead, he wanted to expose the Hydra agents who have infiltrated high positions within the U.S. Government. He was willing to risk everything. Even his own life. This teaches us to never settle for less but stand for what is right even if others refused.
Be a True Friend
Captain America recalled a memory of his best friend Bucky comforting him after his father died. Bucky would tell him, “I am with you to the end of the line.”
Captain American would say those same words when he refused to kill his friend.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier can teach us many things. One thing is clear is trust is given and earned. We must be willing to run the race with someone. We also must be willing to suffer for what is right even if it’s our own lives for the gospel. We also must never give up on our friends.
