Our Place of Rest
Today’s readings ask us an important question: What is my response to the life, death, and resurrection of Christ?
Many of us fall into that last bullet. Easter has come and gone. Back to ordinary life. Nothing in my life or response to God really changed as a result of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
I think many of us act in some ways like Thomas. Although many believe in the Resurrection of Jesus, we haven’t seen the proof of it in such a way that leads to true belief that radically changes our response.
If we did, we would be changed and our responses would be very different during this Easter season. We’d be running with joy. We’d be evangelizing to our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. We’d be living more like Christ with exuberance and urgency. We’d take God’s commandments more seriously. Maybe we would even have a lot more vocations!
The disciples and early Christians were profoundly changed by the resurrection of Christ. That’s what God calls us too as well!
I would encourage you to pray today: Lord, show me your wounds. Show me the proof of your resurrection in my life. Increase my belief in your resurrection power so that I too can be a disciple that responds to your life, death and resurrection like the disciples and early believers did. May Jesus' life, death and resurrection change everything in my life.
