Single Awareness Day
News broke from CatholicVote.org that St. Joseph’s University, located on the edge of Philadelphia, will be hosting a drag show on Friday, April 19th.
This news is appalling, yet it is what Vatican II has sown. First, we have drag shows performed before children and many parents are okay that the behavior is acceptable. Now, it is making its way to the level of academia. Who knew?
A petition brought about by Tradition, Family, and Property has amassed 13,000 signatures to cancel the annual drag show.
“I am appalled that your university plans to host an immoral ‘drag show’ on April 19,” the petition states.
“The event tramples Catholic moral teaching blurs the distinction between male and female, and causes grave scandal among Catholic students,” it continues.
“Moreover, the sinful show is a slap against Saint Joseph, the holy patron of your institution,” the petition goes on to note. “I respectfully urge you to cancel the drag show.”
SJU’s social media post have suggested that the drag shows have gone on for years.
Even CatholicVote Vice President Joshua Mercer would agree with the above. He stated, “‘Drag’ shows were invented by gay men to hypersexualize and mock women. No Catholic university should ever host a ‘drag’ show. This is a complete embarrassment for a university named after good St Joseph.”
What is more frustrating is how another Jesuit college has allowed this demonic activity on their campus.
Even in its statement, SJU’s mission statement declares: “As Philadelphia’s Jesuit Catholic University, Saint Joseph’s provides a rigorous, student-centered education rooted in the liberal arts.”
“We prepare students for personal excellence, professional success and engaged citizenship,” the 173-year-old Jesuit institution continues:
Striving to be an inclusive and diverse community that educates and cares for the whole person, we encourage and model lifelong commitment to thinking critically, making ethical decisions, pursuing social justice and finding God in all things.
Does allowing Satanic rituals and compromising church teachings fall to the category of inclusion or exclusion?
SJU, if you’re truly a Catholic university, it is time to embrace tradition, not relativistic approaches that destroys your identity from within.
St. Joseph’s University is the many reasons why we need to support the many faithful Catholic Universities who are strong in their identity and are willing to help their students strive for what is to come.
