Do You Want To Be Well?
Lyrics on Taylor’s Swift’s New Album "The Tortured Poets Department"
“Please I’ve been on my knees, change the prophecy, don’t want money, just someone who wants my company.”
“I’m so afraid I’ve sealed my fate, no sign of soulmates.”
- Lyrics from Taylor Swift’s Song “The Prophecy”
“For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?” - Mark 8:36
The world sells you fame and fortune, a successful career…do this, have this, and you will be happy. This is all a lie. The true desire of a woman’s heart is for marriage and children. Taylor Swift is a billionaire, a mega superstar, and she is singing about being on her knees begging for a soulmate instead of money; and how she’s afraid that she’s sealed her fate.
The only thing you can take with you to eternity are other souls. Worldly success, your career, your money is not going with you, and will never make you truly happy. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
Woman came from the rib of man, and she has a deep yearning to return to him. Billions of dollars doesn’t magically take away the God-given instinctual desire - in fact it escalates it. Grammys and number one records don’t replace the yearning of being adored by a man and having his babies. Swift sings on her new album “The Tortured Poets Society” about her six year relationship that came to an end with a man she thought she was going to marry. The agony of the weight of the loss of love, overrides fame and success, to the point of bargaining for a soulmate instead of money.
Coined “Boss Babes” these are women who are highly career driven and motivated. The thing about boss babes is while on the outside they may look like they have highly successful careers, on the inside their silent screaming drowns out the screams of success.
Just take a look at the lyrics from Swift’s song “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart”
“Breaking down I hit the floor, All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting “More”
“You know you’re good when you can do it with a broken heart, cause I’m miserable, and nobody even knows.”
Anyone who’s dabbled in show business can tell you the truth behind these lyrics. You can be having the worst day ever, but when they say “Lights, camera, action!” It’s time to smile and perform. The momentary high of performing wears off, and doesn’t fill the need for a soulmate.
On the song “The Prophecy” Taylor goes on to sing :
“Who do I have to speak to about if they can redo the prophecy?”
And
“Gathered with a coven 'round a sorceress' table”
This alludes to seeking out fortune tellers, and dabbling in witchcraft to find answers. The devil sells you a lie, and brings you to a point of despair where you will do anything to find answers to soothe your aching heart. The true answers and freedom your heart desires comes from the Will of God, and no psychics or fortune tellers can offer you the fullness of the truth. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all, and no one is too far gone to receive the overwhelming mercy of God. This is the beauty of the love of God, it’s incomprehensible to our human minds, who cannot fathom the richness and depth of the Mercy of God. The devil who tempts one to “sell their soul” is not more powerful than He who died on the Cross to save one’s soul.
Taylor Swift’s BFF Selena Gomez released a documentary in 2022 titled “My Mind and Me” which highlights her personal struggles. There’s a scene in the documentary where Gomez is sobbing saying “I just want to be a mom.” Gomez also touches on having suicidal thoughts in the documentary. The blinding lights of fame and fortune, do not truly satisfy the heart.
I foresee a shifting of the tide. I think a lot of women are finally waking up to the lies the culture sells them; and how they are all empty promises which come from the enemy of their souls. We are seeing an influx of women flocking to the “trad wife” movement, a total 360 from what the world promotes, and going back to traditional ways. An increase of desiring to cook homemade food, to garden, to homestead, to go back to living traditional lives, staying at home and being content. It’s better to have a simple quiet life. A husband who loves and adores you, and a sweet tiny baby on your hip. The simply joys in life are all we truly desire at the soul level. Everything else, really doesn’t matter, and you can’t take any of it with you to eternity.
It’s important to always maintain a clear perspective on what is truly important in life. Don’t waste your precious life seeking fame and notoriety, as the famous don’t even want the fame they have.
