The Two-Edged Sword
The Gate
My land was once open to all
Free to come and go any who would call
Once I obtained pets though
The freedom it had to go
A fence I built to keep my animals in
A fence to keep others out from those within
But the yard would require an entrance
A gate at the back seemed to make sense
The gate is operated only by me
I can open close or let it be
When I choose to take my animals walking
The gate I will utilize by unlocking
When I return with animals following
They will follow me through the gate the opening
It and the fence I built to keep harm out
Though I do keep a look for evil is always about
A wolf coyote a lion or maybe a bear
These may come in for the gate and fence they don’t care
But it keeps my animals where I can spy
If not scared they would run off and surely die
It is much easier to herd my pets inside
When danger is imminent outside
The gate will keep them where I can find them
If not they will become lost as they will roam
They know My voice and will listen to Me
They know I have their food and board is free
As the sheepherder protects his own
So too will I never leave you alone
Enter My realm through My gate
Hurry though please don’t be late
For Father wants it closed one day
For there are those who are no longer allowed in to play
Amen
