It's like y'all don't trust God
I was listening to “Catholic Answers Live”, and I noticed something; the same arguments against Catholicism are exactly the same as always. In fact; some of the topics I’ve even written on. ("But Catholic churches are too ornate"!)
I just would like to hear new objections. I would just like to hear something that isn’t easy to debate.
I just fail to understand how many times Protestants can ask questions like “How can Mary hear all these people”? As if somehow the people in Heaven are unaware of what’s going on here on earth. (The Book of Revelation, which, by the way; I’ve also written about, says otherwise). A very hopeful book of the Bible
Why are prayers for the dead such a big deal to most Protestants? Praying for the dead comes from Judaism; not Christianity. We inherited it. (Coffee and Christianity: Episode 25: Prayers for the dead)
I’m not criticizing Protestants. I just think their arguments against Catholicism just aren’t very good. And they’re usually the same arguments.
Don’t misunderstand me; I WANT Protestants to have good arguments, but all I ever seem to hear are the same ones.
I think, a big problem, is that Catholics aren’t great with the internet search wars. Type in “Christianity”, into a search engine. Usually, one of the first things that comes up is “Got Questions”, which is an awful Calvinist site. And then you get people who conflate “Calvinism” with “Christianity”.
But Christianity is a broad group that just happens to include Calvinism. Calvinism is a minority religion, amongst even Protestants. I don’t think those of us in Western Anglophone countries realize this fact.
Of course, being a minority religion does not make it false. Christianity was a minority religion in the Roman Empire, but is still very much the true religion.
I guess I’m saying that there are two opposing forces here. Questions Protestants have, that have been answered over and over again, and the lack of Catholic resources that are easily accessible to seekers, because of search engine results.
Now, some are better than others. I don’t recall the search engine, but I typed in “Christianity” to one, and a site for Catholic prayers (Not a radtrad site, either), was like the second result.
But most people use Google; and Big Tech (including Apple, for those of you who keep bashing my Android phone, you really should look at what THEY support, and then we’ll talk), has a hatred of Christianity, especially Catholicism.
They’ll let fundamentalist sites slip by, because it confirms all the worst stereotypes that Non-Christians have about Christianity (in my opinion).
I even meet a lot of the more Fundamentalist Protestants where they’re at (ever notice how much I used the King James Version of the Bible)?
Speaking of, let’s end on a biblical note; the entire reason I do this to begin with.
“But sanctify the Lord God in your heart; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear’”,
(1 Peter 3:15).
And as always, there’s more there, go read the rest on your own!
