A Pilgrim Journey
Following the miracle of the loaves and fishes, Christ’s disciples departed by boat
Toward the opposite shore. Tossed to and fro, they trembled, quaked, cried out in fear.
Walking upon the roiling waters, an eerie figure approached - they perceived as a ghost.
Peter asked, “if it is you, Lord, call me out to you,” anchored by floundering faith and doubt.
A voice broke through the relentless tumult of shrieking wind and hammering, mighty waves,
“Do not be afraid, it is I,” and amid the stormy surge splashing upon the boat, Peter stepped out.
As long as he gazed upon Jesus, he walked above the swells; yet, he faltered, gave in to his senses.
Faith as frail as solitary threads frayed, he began to sink beneath the rocky surf and called out,
“Jesus, save me,” and He grabbed Peter by the hand and pulled him above the water once more saying,
"So little faith,” and asked, “why do you doubt?” They got into the boat, a certain stillness settled, disciples in awe.
With much to learn, they sailed on to the weary, those who yearned to encounter the long-awaited Messiah.
Do not despair. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Believers have the gift of the Holy Spirit,
the Advocate, Jesus promised. You are never alone. I pray you hold fast to your faith.
