Navigating Sudden Death of Friend or Loved One
In 1984, Ronald Reagan offered his remarks during the Ecumenical Breakfast in Dallas. He is running for reelection and is campaigning on many successes during his first term in the White House despite an assassination attempt. Communism in Eastern Europe is collapsing thanks to his friendship with a steadfast shepherd at the Vatican. Leading up to this occasion is the debate on whether religion should play a paramount role in American politics.
He offers a line that resonates with us 40 years after the event that should be heeded as a warning. He said, "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
Today, the greatest nation of the Western Hemisphere is suffering. Not from the outside, rather, it is suffering from within. It is losing its Christian identity every time the woke agenda strikes. A false Christianity is easily embraced by younger people that saturates the gospel that has stood the test of time since the 1st Century. This false gospel’s goal is to appease people through false prophets and pastors who preach about prosperity without the word of God and hinder God’s truth.
A leader who can’t seem to cognitively give a straight sentence is confused about his Catholic faith and how to lead hundreds of millions of citizens. In the meantime, he is a puppet for a powerful foreign nation.
Catholics are not defending their faith or are scared to live out a heroic one like the church of the first millennium. The church had powerful witnesses, heroic martyrs, and bold leaders. Many of them were ahead of their time when they established the rules that are commonly picked and chosen by the faithful. No wonder 70% don’t accept the teachings on the Eucharist, abortion, birth control, Holy Orders, and premarital sex. This has led to poor catechism on the part of those entrusted to educate pupils in the Catholic faith without giving a yard to those who long to sugarcoat the teachings.
Millions of unborn Americans have lost their lives since the advent of the sexual revolution with a staggering 64 million. That’s more casualties than the lives lost during both World Wars in the last century.
All of this can be pointed to one simple conclusion, bringing God back to the public square, municipalities, schools, and even the pulpits.
God created the world because everything is good. Sadly, the influence of Satan has made everything bad. Priests and bishops are scared to instruct their congregations every Sunday about the faith or reinforce what they have learned.
Priests in one poor Italian town would incorporate current events in their homilies to help those who were in the poor class. Maybe it’s time for priests and bishops today to do the same. Only this time is to tell us the important lessons of faith when sharing about current events. It can help those understand God’s work and that of the devil.
The time for heroic Catholicism is now. Now is the time to stand up to the changing world.
To paraphrase GK Chesterton, the Catholic Church is a church that, “will move the world.”
The church can move that world when heroic Catholics, regardless of his or her vocation, will rise and tell the world that they are wrong.
America, God has blessed this nation under his name. It is time to rise and defend it from the dinner table to the public square. It is time to defend it from the pulpit to the public square. It is time for America to return to God with all their hearts, minds, and strength.
