The Stone is rolled to close the Tomb
I was saying the Sorrowful Mysteries and it came to the Scriptural part where Pilate washed his hands and then let a murderer out of prison to appease the devil's plan of making sure Jesus was going to die.
What shock to his ears ( Barabbas), when the guards came to his cell and told him he was free to go! Surely he had a feeling of disbelief and wondered who this man Jesus was who was taking his place. Everyone and everything has it's purpose. Even poor Judas, whose despair got the best of him. Did Barabbas take off running after he saw the light of day? Did he look back at this poor wretch of a man, standing there all bloody and scourged to suffer the pain he was supposed to suffer?
We just don't know what fate they all consequently received. Pilate, The Sadducees, Caiaphas?. Even the people in the crowd who cried "crucify him". No other mention of Barabbas is penned, except for the fact that he was traded for Jesus.
I pray you repented Barabbas, for the price our Jesus paid to have you released. I pray that all of us, when we, in our "Barabbas" moments, realize that is no sin to great for our God to forgive. For He is just that. A Good and Forgiving God. When we feel like running and putting ourselves above others, let us remember Barabbas and do what we hope he did. Repent.
