The Wedding at Cana
Meditation on the Fourth Luminous Mystery of the Rosary
There You were, Oh Lord,
standing with Moses, the law,
and Isaiah, the prophet.
They glorified You.
We had walked up the mountain with You.
Ascended up to that high, holy place,
where our eyes and our hearts
could breathe in Your spirit.
There was a cloud and light,
and You revealed Yourself to us
in a way we’d not seen before
or even imagined.
You wanted us to understand
who You are,
the fullness of Your mystery,
the glory of Your majesty.
Your divinity.
You shined so brightly,
Your body—no, Your whole being—
glowed, so that we had to shield our eyes.
Then a cloud formed about You
and we felt Your presence
and Your power, so deep within us that
our hearts felt as though they might burst.
The Truth of Your Power, Your Infinity,
struck us, filled us, and made us quiver
in fear and anticipation
in recognition of Your Glory.
Only when the heavens cleared
did You speak.
You called out to us, with words,
now familiar,
‘Get up and do not be afraid.’
NRSV Matthew 17:7
As we opened our eyes,
Moses and Isaiah were gone.
Only You remained.
Oh, my Lord, my Jesus.
Only You,
Our Father’s new and final covenant
with us, His creatures.
Only You remain with us today, Holy Lord.
Only through You, can we have life eternal.
Jesus, the Christ.
Jesus, our new Adam.
Jesus, Our Father’s only Son.
Jesus, my brother, my friend.
Jesus, my first and only love.
Jesus, my Lord and my God.
