An Athiest Finds Cultural Christianity
Every time we turn around we hear of another outrage by the so-called "trans" community. As Catholics this should especially concern us, as that movement of the twisted and confused showcases the real target of the cultural left: The family.
As the family, even in heaven, is at the very center of Catholic life, those who seek to destroy it and replace it with degraded alternatives must be opposed.
This basic social unit has been the bedrock of human civilization for thousands of years. The American cultural and political left, with their dreams of an authoritarian and socialist state, know they must first destroy the traditional family, as their proposed automations can have no loyalties above the state. Mom, dad, siblings, grandparents? Out the door to usher in the new leviathan, which brooks no relative other than Big Brother.
If you disagree with the preposterous notion that genders are a matter of choice, not biology, then you run into the leftist buzzsaw. Just ask the Harry Potter series writer J.K. Rowling. She's been pilloried for merely stating the obvious facts of life; there are only two genders.
People have the right to live as they wish, within law and civilized norms. As Rowling has pointed out, they don't have the right to inflict their choices on others. Especially, not on innocent children.
All manner of miscreant and lunatic cannot deal with the proposition that someone, especially a celebrity like Rowling, disagrees with them, such are their innate fascist natures. Run afoul of them on this side of the pond, note KC Chief kicker Harrison Butker and his recent upholding of traditional values at a Catholic college, and MENSA members like the cast of 'The View' will judge you as wanting in compassion and commitment to "diversity." Really? The left really wants to discuss this?
How compassionate is it to kill babies who have a heartbeat? How diverse is it to tolerate only one point of view in debate? It's no wonder so many of this home grown Bolshie ilk sided with Gaza terrorists against the Israelis, as Hamas raped children then bashed their heads against walls. So much compassion in common, those kindred spirits.
When the likes of Dylan Mulvaney, he of the fake prepubescent girl act, and the retailers of Target can actively promote the sexualization of young children and be lionized by many parts of society, you know a war against the family is on and we Catholics may not exactly be winning.
How can we fight back? By the wallet and ballot box. My wife and I won't shop at Target anymore. No way our money is going to that purveyor of trash. I urge you, by your own lights, to do the same. Why should you subsidize those who go out of their way to attack your lifestyle and your family structure?
As for the vote, it's obvious. Check voting records. Go beyond the canned statement, find out where candidates stand, and vote accordingly.
As a Church and as Americans we've withstood vicious and powerful attacks before. The Nazis and the Communists finally understood we would not countenance defeat. We would persevere to victory. Those who would try to assault the bukwark of the family and the very basis of human nature itself should understand the same defensive gauntlet has been thrown down. As has been said in different conflicts under different circumstances, "They shall not pass."
