The Fifty-Four- Day Novena
*Disclosure, take your doctors advice! There was no treatment for covid when my father had it. *
Back in 2020, the entire planet was literally dealing with covid. Well, at this time, my seventy-nine-year-old father caught it. He caught covid just a week after we went into lockdown. He had no other symptoms other than one day out of the blue, he randomly started to violently throw up blood. My mom called for an ambulance. On his way out the door, he said to my brother, “take care of your mother.” As if he knew he might not come back. We still, until this day, do not know how my father contracted covid as he is retired and doesn’t leave the house. My mother and brother live in the same house, and both did not have it.
My father was taken to the hospital where the Emergency Room doctor diagnosed my father with covid and over the phone told my mother that because of my father’s age they were not going to try to treat my father but rather let him die. Well, the Holy Spirit sprung my brother into action. (My brother is an attorney.) Who argued with the doctor eventually convincing her to admit my father to the Covid unit, there they put him in a medical coma and on a ventilator.
In the days that followed, I prayed the rosary several times a day. We all began to pray the rosary for my father. As you remember we were barred from going to mass during the lockdown. During the lockdown a good friend of mine somehow acquired a conference call line and every single night during lockdown and during covid we had a bible study, and we prayed the rosary for my father and all others who were sick with covid. I also formed a prayer chain via text, and I would inform those on the conference call and on the prayer chain of my father’s progress. It was very touch and go with my father, his temperature would go up and the nurses would give him ice baths. We all continued to pray the rosary.
My father was in the hospital between eight and nine weeks before they declared him covid free! He was eventually moved to rehab center where he had to learn to walk again and then was moved back home with my mother and brother. The Rosary truly healed my father from covid. Even my husband has said on occasion that God truly answered my prayers for my father’s healing.
