What is an Orthobro?
"For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth"
(Deuteronomy 7:6)
Since I live on the interwebs, and not in real life, I’ve dealt with my fair-share of Anti-Catholicism (including, oddly enough, from Catholics).
But, one thing I’ve noticed on the internet, is a lot of people who act like the TLM is the only valid form of Mass, are largely Anti-Semitic and Pro-Putin (apparently not caring that Catholics are persecuted in Russia, and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is pretty much outlawed, Truth matters)
I consider these people a hindrance to evangelization.
No Jew is going to become Christian if they’re constantly called things like “Christ killers”.
Question, does this include ethnic Jews? (The Jewish Catholic) What about Christians that were raised Jewish? (Reason & Theology)
Or, for that fact, some of my own Israeli Jewish family.
That’s not to say that Jews always get Christianity right, either.
Michael Lofton (Lofton grew up in Israel), said that Israelis often equated Christians with Nazis.
But you know that “chosen race”, referred to 1 Peter 2:9? Well, while God’s covenant is opened to all people (including Jews), if we assume it’s a reference to Deuteronomy 7:6, this would mean that it originally referred to the Jews.
The Jewish people did not stop being God’s chosen people. (CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SECOND EDITION)
But let me make something very clear, no Jew is ever going to come to Christ, if we blame the Jewish people solely responsible for his death.
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness, into his marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9)
