Two Thieves in Heaven?
Catholic Conservatives and Dogma
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
The Holy Father is correct in the fact that most American Catholics are conservative. We take God’s word in the bible very seriously and probably would rather err on the literal word and save our souls than take the wide crazy road and not wait until the end of life to repent. We also do not wish to lead any soul astray as that incurs the wrath of God if we do not get the final grace of repentance. I see that tendency to be conservative a good thing. We keep alive the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. She was conceived without original sin. We keep alive the Assumption of Mary. We believe that Mary after her life on earth was not allowed to go through the death process of bodily corruption. We believe the Mary joined Jesus, bodily in Heaven. This teaching comes to us via apostolic revelation. There are many other examples of Catholic dogma that we conservatives keep.
One other comes to mind. Life begins a conception. Conservatives do not believe in abortion. Abortion is a liberal notion brought on by the free love movement of the 1960’s where neither parent wanted any responsibility for the child in the womb. Conservatives loathe the thought of losing even one life this way. Many years ago, Catholics began a pro-life march on Washington, DC to rid our nation of Roe v. Wade. We invited pro-life members of other faiths and creeds to join us in the fight for life of the unborn. With our combined prayers and monetary support for politicians who agreed with us, a political movement was created. With conservative Justices appointed, that law was finally repealed. The status of abortion now resides with all 50 states to determine the future of abortion. Again, conservative Catholics are trying to spread unity among the brethren of all faiths fulfilling the words of Jesus praying to the Father, “That all may be one in You.”
On a federal level we have a so-called “Catholic” President who brings scandal to our Church by supporting abortion on demand by creating a federal law as such. When will our President be refused the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the reception of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ? Should the President be asked to repent of this sin publicly and stop all support for a federal law to legalize abortion? The answer is YES!!
The dogma of abortion on demand is a liberal dogma that should not be tolerated by any prelate of any Church. Abortion is a crime against humanity, no matter how the child came to be. If the child is unwanted, Adoption is the only alternative. Instead of some of our Church Hierarchy attacking conservatives, they should be praised. Let us all cooperate with the grace of God so all of us will one day hear, “Well done, good and trusted servant. Enter into the Joy of my Father’s House.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Deo Gratias. Gloria Tibi Domini. Praise be to God. See you in Paradise. Amen.
