Saint Ambrose Prayer
Knowing that I’ve had a number of years of on again, off again online dating experience, I was recently asked by a newly single Catholic friend of mine of whether they should try online dating.
As I was trying to come up with a simple yes or no answer, a flood of memories entered my mind. Some of those experiences were good, some not so much. However, the important question that I had to ask myself was what’s the best answer for her regarding her happiness in this life, and her salvation in the next.
As I was weighing the pros and cons I wanted to do some research on the topic and discovered that online dating is a booming industry. More than thirty percent of US adults have entered a dating site/app, and online dating is extremely popular among adults under the age of thirty. With it's popularity, there’s not much of a social stigma of online dating as there once was. Although there are some valid concerns such as being catfished, and the potential for financial loss, the overall positive/negative experience among men and women is predominantly positive, and more importantly, safe.
Although the secular sites have a much larger pool of people to "choose" from than CM, I think Catholic Match is the right fit for anyone (Catholic or not) because it offers the same benefits that other secular sites offer; comparable prices, state of the art websites, etc., but more importantly offers an enriched religious, and cultural experience that will help anyone find their mate, and save their souls.
To my friend, and anyone else who’s wondering whether they should try Catholic dating online or not, I say, YES!
May the Holy Names of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Be Blessed Now and Forever. Amen. We Love You, Save Souls!
