Help the Poor Souls

November is the month of the Poor Souls in Purgatory. The Holy Founder of the Marians, Blessed Stanislaus Papczynski, says the greatest work of charity is to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. He said "pray brethren for the souls in purgatory for they suffer unbearably."

St. Maria Faustina Kowalska is known today as the "Apostle of Mercy." Souls appeared from purgatory asking for her prayers. Pope Leo the 13th proclaimed St. Nicholas of Tolentino the "Patron of the Souls in Purgatory."

The greatest prayer for the poor souls is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Many souls are released on All Souls Day and on Christmas Day. Padre Pio said the rosary is the "weapon." Our Lady appeared at Lourdes with a rosary that had 6 decades. St.Bernadette asked what the extra decade was for and Our Lady replied" The sixth decade is for the poor souls in purgatory."Holy water is a powerful sacramental that when sprinkled on the graves of your loved ones relieves their pains in purgatory.

St.Gertrude offered this prayer for the poor souls." Eternal Father I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son., Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen." This prayer releases 1,000 souls everytime it is prayed. The poor souls cannot help themselves, but they do pray and help us. They are holy and await heaven. We can help them by our prayers and sacrifices.
