A Bottomless Pit awaits those who choose its attractions
Christian Silence
From the very beginning of humanity mankind has had the need to stand up for the rights of themselves and then for others around them. Passiveness is not the best example of a peaceful nation when enemies will attempt to remove the sanctity of their well-being.
After the death of Moses the quest for Joshua to lead his people forward took on a nation that would fulfill the promise God made to Abraham; “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you: I will make your name great , so that you will be a blessing . I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.” (Gn 12: 2 - 3). God’s plan to bring his people, the nation of Israel, to a land he noted from before human history and nothing would stop their growth.
When God sent Joshua forth towards Jericho he had a definite plan for the conquest of the Canaan people which fell under the auspices of the quest for the people to arrive at a land flowing with milk and honey.
This brings us to a matter of modern exquisiteness that appears to be lacking in the world filled with anger, resentment, and revenge. There are those who will pray, asking God to show his way of eliminating our enemies or their method of hurting us. Do not think for a moment that the Battle at Jericho was something he will use for our silly yet hurtful experiences to come out on top. We cannot take the stories of the past when the Israelites were moving towards their final destination promised by God is how we should structure our own approval towards other people.
Jesus warned us against holding grudges and aimed this at the Pharisees when they promoted hatred toward their enemies. (Mt 5: 43 - 48). Living with these attributes of individualism keeping others away from you for your own selfish reasons will only destroy the common relative compassion for everyone. (Mt 6: 9 - 15).
Then why are we concerned about fighting back with no regard for whom we hurt? If the combined Allies in the battles of Europe where Hitler and his Third Reich killed over 6 million Jews had not joined together in a battle to protect the remaining Jews, as well as the rest of Europe that was tumbling to total destruction, Hitler would have moved across the globe without anyone to stop him. Here is where the Silence from Christians and others must be heard vocally against these enemies of God and his followers guided through Christ. Speak out against abortion and euthanasia, both of which promise a destruction of humans who cannot speak for themselves.
Peace among all nations is a goal mankind should be looking at, but that total adherence fo everyone to strive for is but a dream. Sin has entered the world, from the beginning of time for humanity and we will not experience it until the Parousia, Christ’s return to the earth.
Here the Christian Silence comes to fruition through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
