A Child In The Family
Opening Our Hearts, Allowing Peace To Enter
Eileen Renders
Life does not always go as planned for any of us. We are met throughout our lives with issues over which, we seem to have no control. This is especially true for those of us who are individuals who have difficulty accepting we are not in control. Yet, accidents or illness can befall anyone at any time. Maybe a loss of income due to a Lay-off, divorce, or even an estranged adult child seems to constantly nag at our thoughts, and tug at our hearts. We tend to go over and over in our minds the events leading up to our crisis, we examine again and again, the idea that this happened due to our negligence. Acceptance and moving forward seem to be beyond our capability.
When we profess with our thoughts, feel in our hearts, and verbalize that we truly put God first in our lives, why then can we not “Let Go, and Let God?” Carrying our cross and allowing God to help us is a freeing experience. God wants to be there for us, but we must acknowledge, and accept that He is always the answer.
When we give our burdens over to God, we are in effect, glorifying Him as our Creator, our Mentor, and our Leader. We open our hearts and allow Him to come in and take over. God is peace, love, and mercy. This is the answer, it allows His peace to flow through us. Acceptance is often difficult because it reminds us we are weak, and make wrong decisions without God.
Yet knowing God is at the helm of our Ship, we can travel through the darkness without fear, God knows, hears, sees, and understands our needs. But it is we who must show our love and our trust in Him. This is the only way we can reap His many gifts of courage, endurance, and understanding. Let us all then, open up our hearts and allow peace to come in.
