What do we expect from Christmas?
On the Edge of Time
To whom should we address the object of time when all we know is where we presently are? It can become a quest of searching for an answer deeper than our minds will allow us to find. If man could only transport himself into the future that is promised by God; a life of eternal happiness where there is no more wondering what it could be like. We then would be on the edge of time, but without looking into an unknown future since like God we shall be in the constant presence of time standing still. Another mystery that has more questions than answers since with God there is no past or future. His essence is always present unlike humanity that needs a past to recover from to a future that has yet to appear.
A finite mind cannot understand this existence of an eternal presence that can see what we shall experience but to him is going on now. Our future has already occurred and the prayers we speak have already happened before a human understanding is waiting for.
That answers the question of will we grow in age and what will become of an older population that had a birth and consequently a death? This can’t happen since the element of time and space will have become non-existant. To live in an eternal existence, we shall also be resurrected as Jesus was and the gift of God is to share his life and love with mankind, forever. The significance of forever defines our acceptance by God into an eternal presence without a beginning or end. We had, as human-beings, a birth into humanity, but with eternity there never was a birth as we know it. Yet, somehow when we were raptured (into a sr=tate or experience of being carried away by overwhelming emotion. A mystical experience in which the spirit is exalted to a knowledge of divine things.
Speaking of the “edge of time”, we may surmise a possibility of knowing something that the human mind is not capable of understanding. Einstein’s theory of relativity can be confusing yet it opens a door of understanding beyond the comprehensiveness of a finite mind. An astronaut traveling at the speed of light for a period of time will find that when returning to earth all of his friends have been dead for years. His travel in space is governed by the speed that supersedes the proficiency of those still on earth. In some way, this gives one an idea of eternity but without a traveling essence
Here we may see that to explain what the essence of eternity is understandable to our present mind-set, we would also need to grasp the theory of relativity with an infinite understanding that no man can completely explain in human terms. Man is trying to unravel the cosmos, black holes, and the existence of a universe that may still be expanding, or ending depending on the distance of stars that burned out eons ago. The distance of outer space is so far removed that a star or galaxy that ended billions of years ago is just reaching our planetary presence
Without trying to understand Einstein's theories or questions beyond the finiteness of man,we need to savor the truth that an eternity for us is a promise God created for you and me and without earning a place with him, we just need to believe and trust he is truthful and accept him as he is.
