Idols or Icons

I heard my neighbor saying 1 day that she had gone to a funeral at 1 of the most beautiful Catholic Churches around. Her being a Baptist walked into my kitchen proclaiming from the rooftops saying, "idols, idols,idols!" It irritated me to the point of explaining to her that those precious statues of Saint Teresa, Our Lord and the Beloved Virgin Mary were "not idols". They are "Icons" Specifically for us to behold and remember that they are here for our eyes and hearts to ask for intercession to God the Almighty. "Idols" are gods that people have made-up in their minds and have no meaning or worth.

     The Sacramentals and Icons that the Catholic Church promotes are religious and pertain to the glory of God.The 1 and only God.

     Our Faith is so misconstrued by other faiths and I cannot understand why. We profess that there is 1 and only 1 God. We recognize Mary as our Holy Mother and the Mother of Jesus who is gave Her to us from the cross. We believe that the Holy Spirit is of the Love between Father and Son and are truly 3 in 1. We firmly believe that that is truly the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ up there on the altar, waiting for us receive HIM.

     I guess I could have kept up the fight with her and said plenty on her beliefs, but with some people, a lot of people really, there's no use. All I can do is pray for them And keep lifting their souls to God in hopes that He will help them understand. For goodness sakes! All faiths shall be become as 1.

     In conclusion Let us pray for each other for clear consciences and willingness to respect each other. Realizing that there is only 1 True God. The God of Mercy and Love, who reigns in Heaven and on Earth.
