Close Encounter of a Sacred Kind: Meeting the Mother of a Soon-to-be Saint
The long-anticipated biopic of the 40th President of the United States will make a late summer release. It is fitting because it has been 20 years since this great leader was called home to God.
Dennis Quaid will portray the Gipper in the film. The filming of the project took place in 2020. Before filming, it went through a series of pre-production like deciding on how it can be the best way to tell the biography of one of history’s greatest scourge of communism (next to St. John Paul the Great).
That’s where author and historian Paul Kengor comes in. Kengor wrote the biography entitled The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism. The book was released in 2006 and it depicts how Reagan was on a crusade to dismantle communism.
His fight against communism began during his time in Hollywood. It would continue when he ran California. When the Cold War was reaching its pinnacle, he felt that it was time to do something about it by running the biggest stage, the Oval Office.
It is noted that Reagan met with St. John Paul the Great seven times. He even worked with Margaret “Iron Lady” Thatcher to take down the Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe.
The movie will be released on August 30th. View the trailer here
