THE BIBLE AND FAITH
“The utterance of Balaam, son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eye is true, The utterance of one who hears what God says, and knows what the Most High knows, of one who sees what the Almighty sees, enraptured, and with eyes unveiled.” Numbers 24:15
God focuses on me and helps my love for him grow as if I were the only person on earth and, at the same time, God is favoring another person with special graces, and another with the gift of healing, and another with the scent of roses. All of this is in harmony with God’s plan. When the sun shines on me, it’s for me, while the sun is shining on a billion others at the same moment. How can this be? This is the miracle of God.
When waiting on the playground for my grandchildren to be released from school, someone recognized me from a previous visit to Seattle. She said hello and proceeded to tell me how lucky I was to be here because the weather is so beautiful, while last week it was rainy and cold. I explained to her that she was blessed to have me here because this beautiful weather is especially for me. She looked at me like, “okay?” I don’t usually say things like that. No, I don’t believe this is the sin of pride. Just my acknowledgement of God’s gifts to me. Sweet Jesus was born for me. My sweet Jesus died for me. Amen!
