Living Stations of the Cross
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.
John 3:16
Everywhere I go I am always seeing reminders of God’s love for all of us. Sometimes it’s in the form of seeing little children laughing and playing in the park when I go on my bike rides. Sometimes I see it in the form of volunteers at food banks. Sometimes I see it in the form of people helping the homeless. Most of all, I see it in little written messages everywhere, “John 3:16”, graffitied on sidewalks, road signs, and building walls.
It’s the greatest message of God’s love for humanity that has been given us throughout history. God so loved us that He sent His Son to die on the Cross for us, and through His Passion, brought us salvation. Jesus Himself said, “Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). Well, that’s what He did on the Cross.
I have mentioned before in a previous article that I love to watch The Passion by Mel Gibson. Of course, I can’t watch it without bawling my eyes out. I always turn into a blubbering mess when I watch in dramatized action all the pain and torture He went through for us out of love. When I see these little written graffitied messages of John 3:16, I always remember that Our Heavenly Father loves all of us.
And then there are graces and events that happen in our lives given to us by our Lord. Like, when someone is down on their luck, seeking employment, then that person goes in for a job interview and is hired on the spot. Or, the good feeling you get when you help another person and expect nothing in return. One of the greatest ways I can remind myself of God’s love is when I go to Adoration. Every Sunday, after Mass, I spend an hour in my Parish Chapel just to adore and thank our Lord and Savior. I sit, praying in silence and watch the Eucharistic held in the monstrance. Above our monstrance hangs a great big Crucifix. After I recite what prayers need to be said, I will sit there and just adore our Lord. Seeing the Crucifix and the consecrated Host are perfect examples to remind us of God’s love.
Another good example we can use to remind us of the Almighty’s love for us is this website, Catholic365. With the many articles written by everybody, we can see how much God loves us. Every morning, the first thing I do when I get up is pray to God and tell Him how much I love him and thank Him for how much He loves me.
I am going to give an assignment to all of my readers. If you do not already pray to God every morning thanking Him for His love and proclaiming your love to Him, I suggest you do so. Not only will it help remind you of God’s love and your love for Him, it will also help set the day for you. I guarantee that after praying this to God in the morning, the rest of your day will be blessed. Some things may still happen that could normally “ruin” someone’s day, but if you go about your day remembering the love exchange between you and Our Father, you would be able to react to the negative in a good way.
Until next time my readers, I love you all as my brothers and sisters in Christ.
