The Eucharist is my Everything
The month of July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. If you don’t have the capacity to add a litany, chaplet, or spiritual read to your prayer, consider these prayers that take five seconds or less (I timed them!) and renew your love for the Most Precious Blood of Jesus.
From St. Ambrose
Be mindful, O Lord, of Thy creature whom Thou hast redeemed by Thy Most Precious Blood
For those familiar with the red booklet for praying the Traditional Latin Mass, you’ll recognize this suggested prayer to pray during the elevation of the Precious Blood during Holy Mass. It is a line of St. Ambrose’s Prayer before Mass.
From St. Faustina
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!
This prayer comes from St. Faustina’s diary (187) and is an optional opening prayer of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Consider praying it in front of a crucifix or when you are in need of extra trust and surrender.
From St. Ignatius of Loyola
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Repeat this line from the Anima Christi prayer that St. Ignatius helped popularize and cling to One who gives you life. If you want to dive deeper into the meaning of these words, you can read a brief reflection here.
From St. Paul
I was once were far off, but have become near by the blood of Christ (cf. Eph 2:13).
Swat away the enemy’s lies and declare this Scriptural truth out loud. That pest may remind us where we’ve been, but we can choose to be grateful for just how far Jesus went to bring us near.
