The power of the holy souls in purgatory
What treasures are grandparents! Whether they be of blood or adoption, what treasures!
Today is the holy feast day of Saints Joachim and Anne, our heavenly grandparents. Childless for years they relied on the love and surrender to God's holy will while praying earnestly for a baby. God's plan had already been started at the beginning of time, little be known to them. The test of their true love and surrender to God after many, many years of praying and waiting.
Significant to this love was desire and sincerity in their trust in God. Finally, a child. A little girl, to be named Mary. All hail the Immaculate Conception!
My grandparents were wonderful in their dedication and love for each other and to their children and grandchildren. Many summers spent on a special vacation just to go see them and oh! What great memories I have.! Grandma, not knowing a lick of English would speak to Grandpa and her children in German as we all gathered that one week of the year, as all lived nearby. Grandpa, tall and mighty in stature, was fierce in his dedication to the Holy family and teaching of the truths of God. Thank you God for my grandparents.
St Joachim and St. Anne, I love you. Whom God and His most Holy and giving knowledge allowed us to have two sets of grandparents. One worldly and one heavenly.
We pray this day for the love that flowed so heartily from Saint Joachim and St Anne, may overflow on to us and together with our earthly mama's and daddies, and grandmas and grandpas, be abundantly protecting and loving to us as we walk this earth till Jesus calls us home to see you all again.
