Is Jesus Still here?
In The Examining of Our Conscience
Eileen Renders
Have you ever gone to the Confessional, confessed your sins, and received absolution yet still feeling unworthy for going to Mass and receiving Communion? And you do not want to go to Communion because you do not feel worthy? This fact is that none of us are worthy, however God forgives a contrite heart.
Maybe you are reliving the mental anguish for sins of the past. Or maybe it was a sin that was repeated over and over without remorse. There are times in everyone’s life when we cannot forgive ourselves. This is exactly what Satan enjoys with a smirk. In coaching us to believe that God does not love us, Satan is winning over Christ for our souls. When we have recurrent bad feelings for our sins of the past, even after having had remorse, and going to Confession with sorrow, it is important to remember in such a circumstance as described, the priest has, by the authority of God, has forgiven us of our sins.
Be aware of the evil One’s cunning acts of trickery in that he wants us to feel bad, to feel undeserving and unloved by God. This is how he separates us from God.
God is always open to accepting our genuine sorrow for our sins, and our desire to do better and be forgiven.
When we frequent the sacrament on a regular basis, we will begin to feel God’s forgiveness and love because we are doing as He asks us to do. God is aware of our imperfections, He created us. This is why it is so important to go to the Confessional. If you have truly amended your life, and have turned away from sin, the Holy Spirit will be residing within your heart, leading, guiding, and correcting you. God did not come down to earth for the righteous, He came to save the sinners. Pray often, spend time alone with Him. I believe you will feel His love. It is there for all of us. He wants each of us to love, support, and inspire others so that everyone can feel His goodness and know that He is in us as we are in Him.
