Beheaded
John he is dead
His friends came and said
John your cousin
He is now gone
Beheaded he was by Herod
Because of a girly-dance the King adored
The dance its cost
The death of John the Baptist
No more will he prophesy
Died he did because of adultery
His cousin will now continue on
To save the world that does beckon
For the path John laid in the Jordan
Is what his cousin Jesus needed to begin
