Why I March for Life? Men’s Perspective
Secretary of the Department of Transportation Pete Buttigieg recently remarked that men are free from abortion. Are they? The short answer is no. There is more to it. Perhaps this man who is a sodomite, acts like a creep, in a same sex union, and Catholic in Name Only should sit down and learn why.
Men are accessory to the murder of their child. They may be “free from abortion” yet they are not free from the consequences. Rather, they are responsible for the decision. Yes, they can break it off with the mistress when it’s all set and done. However, they will carry deep wounds like the women who have had abortions.
In his poem The Hollow Men, T.S. Eliot once said,
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men . . .
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless . . .
Remember us—if at all—not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.
Eliot reminds us that men are not immune to trauma. Even nine men reflected on their own experiences with abortion. Many have dire warnings for men who want to abandon their responsibilities of being a father. Andrew would concur when he said, “Agreeing for a woman to have an abortion is saying no to the responsibility that has been given to the man”. –Andrew J. Men are never free to do what they want. They have responsibilities from God. This can go back to the fall of man in the garden. Adam had responsibilities and he never upheld them. It can change when men stand up and take up the responsibilities of fatherhood and being a protector of women and children.
St. John Paul the Great once remarked that freedom, “Consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought. Man is called to freedom,” Yet, they are never free from internal healing without the mercy of God.
I wonder if he has met Thomas, the father of Clementine who shared how his daughter was aborted without his consent. During a Students for Life tour, Thomas shared how fathers can be hurt by abortion.
So, Mayor Pete, I would like to pose the question to you.
Are men free from abortion?
