About deeds crooked but not wrong

Prior to that many years before

Their forefathers helped start a Great War

And this scene helped set the stage

Taxes taxes even the Jews had no impunity

Their own country men were oft the cause and had immunity

Matthew is one that comes to mind

The Gospel writer a collector while still religiously blind

Jesus explained though that all must pay

To our Heavenly Father prayers and always obey

And taxes to the Caesars of our communities

Unfortunately all part of our human duties

Do His Will and what He exclaims

And Heaven will you go the place where He reigns

Amen
