It's Hard to See Jesus in Our Catholic Schools
In today's world, we're constantly bombarded with messages promoting tolerance as the ultimate expression of love. We're told that to love others, we must accept and even celebrate lifestyles and ideologies that contradict the natural law and the teachings of Christ. But what if this so-called "tolerance" isn't love at all? What if, by going along with the woke agenda, we're not only failing to love our neighbors but also contributing to the destruction of God's beautiful and beloved creation?
To love, as defined by St. Thomas Aquinas, is "to will the good of the other." This means that true love seeks what is genuinely best for others, even when it's difficult or countercultural. However, when we tolerate or endorse immorality, depravity, and disorder, we are not willing the good of others—we're enabling behaviors and beliefs that lead them further away from God and His truth.
Take, for instance, the issue of transgenderism. We're told that to love those who struggle with their gender identity, we must affirm their belief that they were born in the wrong body. But is it truly loving to encourage someone to live in a way that contradicts the reality of their God-given biology? No, it is not. By affirming such beliefs, we are leading them further away from the truth of who they are as created by God. We are also encouraging a society that becomes increasingly detached from reality, truth, and the natural order established by our Creator.
Similarly, when it comes to the LGBTQ+ agenda, we're pressured to accept and even celebrate relationships that go against the very design of human sexuality. But again, is this true love? To will the good of someone who is same-sex attracted would be to guide them toward chastity and a life in accordance with God's plan, not to condone behavior that separates them from His grace. The acceptance and celebration of gay marriage and other forms of sexual immorality not only harm the individuals involved but also contribute to the erosion of society as a whole.
Then there's the issue of abortion. How often are we told that to truly love women, we must support their right to choose? But what about the unborn child—the most innocent and vulnerable among us? Abortion is a direct attack on life, the ultimate gift from God. It is a grave evil that not only ends the life of a child but also harms the mother, both physically and spiritually. To support abortion is to support the enemy's plan to destroy God's creation and undermine the sanctity of life. This tolerance of evil under the guise of love is a deception. The enemy, who is a liar from the beginning, wants us to believe that by embracing disorder, depravity, and immorality, we are being loving and compassionate. But true love is rooted in truth, and that truth is found in the teachings of Christ and His Church.
To love others as Christ loves us is to lead them toward the fullness of life, which can only be found in Him. But we must go further—it's time to speak up and out. We cannot remain silent in the face of evil. Silence in the face of wrongdoing is not neutrality; it is complicity. If we stay silent, we will have to answer to God for our inaction. It’s time to do what is right without counting the cost, to rise up as the saints God created us to become. We have been silent for far too long, and that silence has brought us to the moral and spiritual decay we see in society today.
As Catholics, we are called to stand firm in the truth, even when it’s unpopular. We are called to love others by willing their good, which means leading them toward Christ and His saving truth.
We cannot remain silent or complicit in the face of evil. We must speak out against the lies of the enemy and boldly proclaim the truth of the Gospel.
In doing so, we may face persecution, ridicule, and rejection. But let us take heart, for Christ has already overcome the world. Our love, rooted in truth, will bear fruit in the lives of others and in the transformation of society. By standing against the woke agenda and upholding the truth of God's design, we are participating in His divine plan to restore all things in Christ. This is true love, and it is the only love that can bring about the good of the other and the ultimate victory of God's beautiful and beloved creation.
