At last we shall be with the Lord!
From healing of the Past comes our Salvation through the Blood of Christ
Far too many people, who have sinned, try to hang on to their past as if this is the only method of finding God’s mercy. If this was the case there is no one who can understand the meaning of the Cross and the death/resurrection of Christ. A perfect penance for sinners is not how many particular prayers we say, but to seek and understand the passion of Christ to get a front seat of a trial without punishment.
True Righteousness is not the sins we carry around. It is the forgiveness that was paid for when every drop of Blood the Savior shed for you and me. When any of us tries to make a comparison in human terms of this day on Calvary, we will fall short of comprehending just what occurred.
We live in a society where sorrow is a word that no longer holds our attention. It also doesn’t have a place in the raising of children since the quest for wealth and pleasure have taken first place in life’s challenges. When speaking of the Blood of Christ as our only hope for mercy, it appears to some as a cannibalistic theme. Without his Blood we have no hope.
If Jesus hung on the Cross without any blood falling from his Body, it would be like an empty corpse without mercy for his enemies. Perhaps we should always remember the soldier piercing the side of Jesus’ body and blood and water poured out; the proof of Life that is still for us, freed from eternal death. (Jn 19: 31 - 36).
Blood is the essence of Christ in his Father’s plan to bring us back to him. Blood has been used throughout the bible beginning with the sacrifice of a perfect lamb that is without any impairment of disobedience. The Passover feast was eaten with the flesh of a perfect lamb, and its blood was used as a sign of freedom from death. (Ex 12: 1 - 20).
Who of us could become as the Lamb of God, sinless, holy, and an Incarnated person of the Trinity to bring God’s plan of freedom from eternal death to those who have walked every step of life without any hope? Not you or I are worthy of God’s forgiveness, but a perfect child as an innocent lamb will be accepted. His willingness to offer his life-giving Blood is the only answer that has saved us.
