Heartbreak
Labor Day is aptly named. It is only right we celebrate a special day for all laborers. It is not just for those who go to work daily, but for all who labor in something that is tedious and difficult to do. Such as giving birth to a precious baby. Why do you think they call it labor? It is difficult and strenuous! It may very well be in the top five of most laborious jobs there is! While in labor, like any job, you must stay focused and continue it until the product is accomplished. After much labor, you're fine peace of work and strength and sweat is there for all to see and hold. Little, I believe, does one think about anything other than that wonderful miracle that is produced by the fruit of a mother's labor.
The hard-working father or mother going day after day to a job that pays just enough to feed their family and pay their bills is another fine example of labor. It isn't easy and it's getting harder and harder to manage as this world, our country, keeps raising taxes and telling us that we just have to do it! Farmers are finding it difficult to manage that farm that has been entrusted to them by their generational heritage. A lot of forced to sell or shut down production because they just can't keep up. Depending so much on our lord for rain and good weather to help with the many acres they tend to.
What about the faithful doctors in nurses and Aids that tend to the sick and needy in the hospitals and the ER areas? Working 12-hour shifts when they are deprived of sleep and nourishment, all on their oath to serve.
Teachers and caregivers and priests and religious, labor on the constant threat of dismissal of the importance of their jobs. Labor is necessary. It is demanded of all of us, no matter what line of work we labor in.
God bless all laborers and peace and love to all mankind as we celebrate and toil away on this oh so important day.
