Movie Review: Reagan
President Franklin D Roosevelt once said, “The only thing that we must fear is fear itself.” It has been a quote on the minds of many voters to date.
Every election cycle, there have been countless ads attacking the candidates. One noticeable thing is how 80% of them have been negative ads targeting Trump and are mostly misinformation.
At the same time, there has been a more positive ad for the so-called “Democratic nominee” who was picked by elite oligarchs without the consent of voters. The media has demonstrated again that they are using fear tactics to persuade a voter to vote for their candidate.
One ad that has been circulating has teenage and college-aged girls talking about how “the man who stopped Roe v Wade” is running, and they want voters to think of them when they vote in November. Here is a little fact check: it was the Supreme Court that reversed the half-century flawed decision in June 2022. The Republican candidate had nothing to do with Roe’s demise. Yes, he put pro-life judges on the vacant seats of the high court. However, they were the ones who decided on the law’s fate, not the ones who occupied the White House. It was in the hands of nine justices (six of whom voted to uphold the Dobbs decision) sending the abortion issue back to the states.
The first book of Chronicles reminds us of what David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.” 1 Chronicles 28:20
This political cycle and those that will come are not the time to live in fear. Rather, it is a time of great courage to do what God wants us to do and that is to build his kingdom by cultivating the message of the gospel to everyone.
Catholics, in good faith, must vote with courage, not fear. We are never meant to live in fear. If we are living in fear, it is because we allow the devil to influence our lives.
Catholics have time and time again stood up to oppression and persecution. It is time for those who are brave enough to find the hill worthy of dying on to fight now.
Political correctness and cafeteria Catholicism are the poison to the faith. Our culture is teaching us things like “be nice”, “love is love”, and many other faulty statements. Whereas, Catholicism doesn’t waiver from the truth. It just needs her lions to defend it.
With the election two months away, let us stop living in fear and be ready to die with faithful fortitude.
